In Kenya, the minimum academic requirement to join the police service is often a D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). But Inspector Kennedy Njuguna Muchoki defied that norm and joined the service with an impressive A-grade.
Inspector Kennedy Njuguna Muchoki’s journey began in the hills of Murang’a, where he nurtured a childhood dream that would one day take him to the national stage.
He was born and raised in Murang’a County, where his interest in public service began at a young age.
Education Background
His passion led him to pursue a degree in Criminology at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), a decision that laid the foundation for a career in law enforcement.
He joined the Kenya Police Service in 2017, graduating from the Kenya Police Training College (Kiganjo) in 2018.
Njuguna Career & Work Experience
His first posting as a constable was in Kakamega County, where he served in the Anti-Crime Branch.
Later, he was transferred to Bungoma County, where he continued his service until his promotion to Inspector.
He was then posted to Malindi Police Station as the Officer Commanding Anti-Crime Branch (OC Crime).
While in Malindi, Inspector Njuguna played a critical role in the high-profile Operation Okoa Maisha in Shakahola.

As the officer in charge of the Kenya Police Service camp, he led efforts that resulted in the rescue of 95 individuals from the forest.
The operation lasted approximately five months, standing as a testament to his leadership and operational acumen.
In 2023, he was appointed Deputy Base Commander in Malindi, where he gained a reputation for his traffic management strategies.
By 2025, he had taken up his current role as Base Commander in Garissa Township, where his commitment to road safety reached new heights.

Achievements
In recognition of his efforts, Inspector Njuguna was nominated—alongside other base commanders—for the inaugural AA Road Safety Excellence Awards.
At a prestigious ceremony held on July 4, 2025, at the Pullman Hotel in Upper Hill, Nairobi, he was crowned Traffic Base Commander of the Year. The event, hosted by AA Kenya, celebrated individuals and institutions making outstanding contributions to road safety.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking dignitaries, including the Principal Secretary for Sports, Elijah Mwangi, NTSA Director General, Mr. George Njao, and NPS Deputy Commandant Traffic, and Kipkemoi Kirui, CP.
