Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League leader Kasmuel McOure announced that he has been selected for a United States (US) program at the Presidential Precinct institution.
In a statement on June 18, 2025, Kasmuel said that he had been accepted into the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship this year under the Civic Engagement track.
“I am honoured to share that I have been accepted into the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship this year under the Civic Engagement track. I will be joining my dream institute, the Presidential Precinct, an institution that perfectly aligns with my work at the ODM Youth League and the broader youth movements I’m involved with across the country,” Kasmuel wrote.
Kasmuel stated that the opportunity was a transformative opportunity to engage with a dynamic network of African leaders and an even richer network of alumni.
Kasmuel Selected for Prestigious US Program
During the pre-fellowship orientation, he connected with some of Kenya’s most impactful young changemakers.
“I am eager to return with fresh insights and transformative ideas that will strengthen our youth movements, advance sustainable livelihoods, and build a more just and inclusive Kenya,” he added.
In the fellowship, his focus areas will include participatory democracy, political reform, fundraising and youth economic empowerment.
At the same time, he will focus on climate action and environmental justice, digital rights and civic technology, gender equity and social justice, and education and food security.

About Mandela Washington Fellowship Program
The Mandela Washington Fellowship, launched in 2014, is the flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), designed to empower young leaders across sub-Saharan Africa.
Since 2014, nearly 7,200 young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa have participated in the Fellowship.
Participants, between the ages of 25 and 35, are accomplished leaders and have established records of promoting innovation and positive impact in their communities and countries.
During the Fellowship, the fellows participate in six-week Leadership Institutes, studying Business, Civic Engagement, or Public Management hosted by U.S. colleges or universities.

Presidential Precinct institution Programs
The Presidential Precinct offers programs that engage and inspire emerging global leaders.
In addition, they have programs, which are part of the US public diplomacy efforts, focus on providing leaders with new perspectives, skills, networks, and visibility to tackle challenges in their home countries.
The Presidential Precinct is one of eight institutions that host Fellows annually, providing academic coursework, leadership training, mentoring, networking, and professional opportunities.
