Esther Muchemi earned a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from Zetech University between 2017 and 2019.
She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce from the University of Nairobi, which she completed between 1977 and 1981.

Samchi began operations with the first Samchi Telecom shop along Koinange Street, Nairobi, in 2000. Samchi is a combination of the first 3 letters of the two children of the founder, Muchemi.
Esther Muchemi’s entrepreneurial journey began when she made a bold decision to leave a 16-year career in auditing and open a small shop selling phones, SIM cards, and airtime for Safaricom.

The group also owns After 40 Hotel, El-Roi Plaza, Heavenly Wings Food, Space International, and Samchi Digital.
Her exceptional leadership and vision have earned her numerous accolades, including the 2017 Global Inspiration Women Leadership Award and a place in Amazon’s 100 Global Women Leaders Hall of Fame, 2017.
