The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted varied weather conditions across the country from August 11 to 17, 2026.
According to a weather forecast covering the seven-day period, most parts of Kenya are expected to remain generally dry.
Rainfall is, however, expected in parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri.
“Most parts of the country are expected to be generally dry. However, some counties including Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri may receive rainfall,” Kenya Met said in its statement.
Kenya Met also forecast intermittent cool and cloudy conditions in several parts of the country during the forecast period.
Showers and Thunderstorms Expected in Several Counties
According to the department, varied rainfall patterns are expected across several parts of the country during the forecast period.
Morning showers may occur in a few parts of Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi counties, according to the weather forecast.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely in a few parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kakamega, Nandi, Kericho and Nakuru.
Similar afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur in parts of Narok, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, Baringo and Samburu counties.
Afternoon showers may also occur in a few parts of Embu, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Murang’a and Kiambu counties.
“Night showers may occur in a few parts of Bungoma and Trans Nzoia counties,” the weather forecast captured.
Forecast rainfall is expected to remain localized, with different parts of the country experiencing showers at different times of the day.

Kenya Met Lists Counties Set for Cool Conditions and High Temperatures
Areas likely to experience cool and cloudy conditions include parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a and Nairobi.
Similar conditions are expected in parts of Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta, Marsabit and Wajir.
Daytime average temperatures of more than 30°C are forecast in much of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana.
Temperatures above 30°C are also expected in parts of Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega.
Night-time average temperatures of below 10°C are expected in parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua and Laikipia.
Similar low night-time temperatures are forecast in parts of Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Trans Nzoia and Taita-Taveta.

August–October 2026 Weather Forecast
In the August–October 2026 forecast, Kenya Met indicated that rainfall was expected to remain below average across several parts of the country, with much of August and September projected to remain relatively dry. Scattered rainfall was expected to increase in October.
Above-average rainfall was forecast in parts of the Coast and northeastern Kenya, with most of the rainfall expected in October. Some areas in the eastern and northern regions were, however, projected to remain generally dry.
Central Kenya was expected to experience occasional cool and cloudy conditions with light rainfall in August, with the conditions potentially extending into early September. Seasonal short rains were expected to begin in October.
Temperatures were forecast to remain warmer than average across Kenya throughout the August–September–October 2026 period.
