The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a five-day weather forecast for the week of October 7–13, 2025, warning of continued rainfall in various parts of the country despite a slight reduction in overall amounts. According to Kenya Met, rain is expected in key regions, including the Central Highlands, covering counties such as Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, and Kirinyaga.
At the same time, Embu, as well as in the Lake Victoria Basin (Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya), the Rift Valley (Nakuru, Baringo, Uasin Gishu), and the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale, should expect showers.
Other regions forecasted to receive rain include the South-Eastern Lowlands (Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, and Machakos), parts of Western Kenya (Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia), and the North-Eastern counties of Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa.
Daytime temperatures are expected to remain high in the Coastal, Northeastern, and Northwestern regions, with some areas experiencing highs above 30°C.

Chilly nights will be felt in parts of the Central Highlands and the Central Rift Valley, where temperatures may dip below 10°C, particularly near Mount Kilimanjaro and Nyahururu.
Kenya Met on Possible Flooding
Kenya Met issued a warning alerting the public to continued rainfall across large parts of the country, with potential for heavy downpours and localised flooding in affected areas.
According to the forecast, some of the areas may experience heavy rainfall ranging between 20mm and 50mm over short periods, increasing the risk of flash floods and other weather-related hazards.
The weatherman has further warned that the heavy rains may be accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms. Strong winds could damage weak structures, uproot trees, or disrupt transport and power lines.
Thunderstorm activity also poses a risk of lightning strikes, particularly in open or poorly sheltered areas.
Weather Review of Last Week
The forecast follows a week marked by scattered showers and varying temperatures across the country.
The highest recorded 24-hour rainfall was 68.3 mm at Ndune Rainfall Station in Embu County on October 3.
Mandera recorded the highest temperature of the week at a scorching 38.9°C on September 29, while Nyahururu posted the lowest night-time temperature at 7.6°C.

The department has advised residents in affected regions to remain alert and follow updates as the country transitions through varying weather conditions.
Farmers and transport operators are especially urged to take note of changing patterns to minimize potential disruption.
What Kenyans Should Do
Kenyans are being urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
Flooding may occur not only in areas where it rains directly but also downstream in low-lying regions where water collects.
The public is advised against attempting to cross flooded roads or walking through moving water, which can be deceptively dangerous.
During thunderstorms, it is advisable to seek shelter indoors and avoid open spaces.
This weather advisory comes as much of the country continues to grapple with the effects of the current rainy season.
