On Monday, heavy machinery, personnel trucks carrying armoured vehicles were seen moving from the Qasrak base, the largest US base in Syria, heading towards the Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
According to Syrian media, the first phase of the withdrawal included the transfer of soldiers and equipment from the al-Shaddadi base and the al-Omar.
Syrian source revealed that there are different sets of equipment to be transferred, including sensitive high-tech tools that may take two weeks to transport into Iraq.
This follows several weeks of reductions in Syria, with US forces already departing from the al-Shaddadi and al‑Tanf bases earlier in February.
Qasrak base has been a key hub for coordinating anti-Islamic State operations alongside local partners such as the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for the past decade.
Withdrawal from the Qasrak military base comes amid a broader reduction of the US military in Syria.
Several military bases have already been vacated in recent weeks as part of a phased exit from the country, leaving them under the control of the Syrian government.
According to sources, approximately 1,000 American troops still stationed in Syria are being repositioned or drawn down as part of the move.

The base was established as a key hub for operations by the US-led global operation against Islamic State terrorists, ISIS.
