The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has published loan interest rates charged by Kenyan commercial banks as of May 2025.
In the lending and deposit rates notice released on July 1, CBK said the overall average lending rate was 15.44, while the deposit rate was 8.70.
Citibank N.A Kenya and Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited had the lowest lending rates with 10.36 and 12.84, respectively.
Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited’s rate was 13.35 while Guardian Bank Limited’s rates stood at 13.57.
The Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited had a lending rate of 13.61, followed by Ecobank Kenya Limited with 13.72.
According to the notice, the following banks had an interest rate of between 14 and 15: Paramount Bank Limited (14.47), Habib Bank A.G Zurich (14.55), Gulf African Bank Limited (14.77), Equity Bank Kenya Limited (14.89) and Bank of India (14.94).
Premier Bank Kenya Limited and Bank of Baroda (Kenya) Limited are next with 15.12.
Next on the list are Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (15.44), ABSA Bank Kenya PLC (15.48) and Guaranty Trust Bank (K) Ltd (15.61).
The lending rates of Victoria Commercial Bank PLC and NCBA Bank Kenya PLC stood at 15.68.
Other banks with rates above 15 include KCB Bank Kenya Limited (15.76), Prime Bank Limited (15.79), Kingdom Bank Limited (15.80) and National Bank of Kenya Limited (15.87).

Banks with Rates Above 16
Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited and M-Oriental Bank Limited had rates of 16.10 and 16.17, respectively.
This is followed closely by Family Bank Limited and Development Bank of Kenya Limited, with 16.40 and 16.63, respectively.
IB Bank Kenya Limited had a lending rate were 16.87.
Besides, UBA Kenya Bank Limited and I&M Bank Limited both had a rate of 16.90.
African Banking Corporation Limited’s lending rate was 17.31, followed by Sidian Bank Limited’s (17.68).

Banks with Highest Rates
Bank of Africa Kenya Limited, SBM Bank Kenya Limited and HFC Limited are among the banks with lending rates above 18.
The bank’s rates were 18.07, 18.09 and 18.99, respectively.
Further, Credit Bank PLC rate was 19.41, followed by Middle East Bank (K) at 19.87.
Access Bank (Kenya) PLC rates were 19.98.
The Commercial International Bank (CIB) Kenya Limited had the highest lending rates with 20.00
CBK Deposit Rates
Premier Bank Kenya Limited had the lowest deposit rate of 2.75, followed by Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited with 3.14.
Credit Bank PLC had the highest rate at 12.68 followed by African Banking Corporation Limited at 12.63.
