Three people have been confirmed dead following a grisly road accident involving a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) matatu and a motorcycle in Nyakach Sub-County, Kisumu County.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident happened on Thursday, December 26 morning after the matatu hit a motorcycle ferrying 4 pillion passengers at Kong’ou market in Nyakach along Katito-Kendubay road.
Three others sustained injuries following the crash.
Photos seen by The Kenya Times showed the knocked down boda boda lying along the road with some damaged parts signaling the impact of the crash.
The Nyakach accident comes as more Kenyans continue to travel to various destinations around the country for the Christmas festivities.
It is also among several crashes that have happened during the festive season that have left a series of casualties and fatalities.
Nyakach accident among crashes recorded this week
On Christmas day, four people were confirmed dead following a tragic early morning accident in Mariakani, Kilifi County.
A police report obtained by The Kenya Times revealed that the accident happened when a driver lost control of his vehicle before ramming into six pedestrians, killing three on the spot and injuring three others.

The fatal accident occurred at around 5:00 AM along the Mariakani-Kaloleni road, near Dam View Hotel.
According to the police report, the male driver driving from Kaloleni towards Mariakani veered off the road and struck the pedestrians walking along the roadside.
Three of the pedestrians—a female and two male adults—were pronounced dead on the scene, while another male succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.

Authorities towed the vehicle to Mariakani Police Station for further inspection as investigations into the cause of the accident were launched.
Multi-vehicle crashes
Earlier this week, two crashes involving six vehicles and a motorcycle which happened at the same spot along the Narok-Mai Mahiu road left eight dead.

The first accident happened after a trailer that was being driven from Narok towards Maai Mahiu direction suffered a tyre burst.
According to a Police report, the driver lost control and in turn the trailer hit a Toyota Premio car, an Ena coach bus and a Narok Line matatu to different sides of the road leaving three occupants of the matatu dead on the spot.
Soon after, a second trailer driven from Narok towards Mai Mahiu arrived at the scene at high speed, hooting and collided head on with a Toyota Prado which was traveling in the opposite direction.
“Two occupants of the Prado died on the spot and a third died later at Narok county hospital,” part of the report adds.
Police revealed that the second trailer also knocked down a motorcycle and killed two pillion passengers on the spot raising total number of deceased to seven. Another victim succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.
