Several people were injured on July 25 after a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was involved in an accident along the Sibanga-Kitale Road in Trans Nzoia County.
Videos from the scene showed the vehicle losing control at high speed before rolling multiple times and coming to rest in a field adjacent to the road.
The crash occurred shortly after political activities linked to the Linda Mwananchi movement in the area after a stopover at Sibanga Market.
Reports from the accident scene indicate that the vehicle was traveling as part of the Linda Mwananchi convoy.
“This driver will cause an accident; look at how he is driving the vehicle,” a witness stated.
According to videos circulating online recorded from the scene, the black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado sustained extensive damage in the crash.
During the accident, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is seen to have flipped several times, with the passengers hanging on the sides being suspended into the air before landing on the road as the vehicle stopped near a maize plantation field.
Further, the front section was crushed, windows were shattered, and the body suffered significant impact damage.
The roof above the driver’s side appeared caved in and scraped, and the left-side body panels showed dents, scratches, and impact marks extending from the front door toward the rear section.
Observers at the scene described the vehicle as a total write-off due to the severity of the damage.

On the other hand, some members of the public have linked the accident to political rivalry between aspirants.
In contrast, others maintain that overspeeding and recklessness on the road are the cause of the accident.
Despite the speculation on the extent of the damage to the Linda Mwananchi convoy vehicle, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has not issued any statement about the Trans Nzoia crash.
