Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Evans Onyango Kawala, also known as Kidero Jasuba, accusing him of threatening President William Ruto in a viral video that has raised security concerns across the country.
Kidero Jasuba was arrested in the Shujaa Mall area of Kayole following a well-coordinated operation by detectives from the Operations Support Unit (OSU).
He is being investigated for remarks captured in a widely shared video in which he appeared to issue a direct threat against the Head of State, referencing a recent security breach involving the President in Kilifi County.
Kidero Jasuba Arrested
In the viral clip under investigation, Kidero Jasuba appeared to refer directly to the Kilifi breach, suggesting that if he had a similar opportunity, he would have taken action against the President.
The DCI and other security agencies have treated the statement as a direct threat, noting that linking a real-life breach to a hypothetical act of harm elevates the risk and seriousness of the utterance.

Police say such remarks fall within offenses related to incitement, threats to public order, and actions likely to undermine national stability.
The suspect is currently in custody, undergoing processing, and is expected to be arraigned in court.
Investigators are also examining digital evidence to establish the full scope of the statements and determine whether there is additional material linked to the case.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has warned members of the public against making or sharing content that promotes violence, hatred, or division, stating that freedom of expression must be exercised within the boundaries of the law.
The agency has further cautioned that any individual found engaging in conduct that threatens peace and national unity will face firm legal action.
The arrest comes at a time when authorities are increasingly concerned about the spread of inflammatory content on social media platforms, especially content touching on national leadership and security.
The DCI has urged Kenyans to remain responsible in their communication and avoid statements that could heighten tension or incite unrest.

Jacaranda Bunge La Mwananchi
Jacaranda Bunge La Mwananchi is an informal public forum held at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East, Nairobi, where ordinary citizens gather to debate political, economic, and social issues.
The platform operates as a “people’s parliament” with no formal structure, allowing anyone to address the crowd and share views on governance, cost of living, corruption, and national affairs.
It is largely driven by activists, youth speakers, and grassroots political voices, many of whom build influence through public speaking and viral content.
Known for its raw and unfiltered nature, the forum often features strong criticism of government and national leaders, and speeches are recorded and widely shared on social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
Jacaranda Bunge has become a key grassroots political space in Nairobi, shaping public discourse and reflecting urban public sentiment, particularly among young people.
However, the platform has also drawn scrutiny from authorities due to the risk of inflammatory speech and its potential to influence public opinion and mobilize unrest.
