Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence after goons tried to attack him while he was attending a church service in Kasarani.
While addressing the congregation, Gachagua said that he does not understand why goons were sent to attack him in a church service.

“Na hatuelwewi kwa nini wengine wanattumia watu kutushambulia,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President further emphasized that the freedom of speech and movement is enshrined in the constitution condemning those who tried to attack him.

“It is very unfortunate . I did not mind kutumiwa goons kila pahali,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua Blames Ruto for Chaos Witnessed in Church
Gachagua directed the blame towards President William Ruto for today’s incident, accusing him of sending goons to attack him.

“If that is his way of operating, it’s okay—but sending goons inside the church? President, what happened to you? Inside the church? Surely, these are the very people who prayed for you,” the former Deputy President alleged.
The former Deputy President further alleged that President Ruto send goons to attack him through Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

He further claimed that the Deputy Inspector General of Police instructed the police not to come where he was fellowshipping.
“We are aware that the Deputy Inspector General of Police told officers not to come, but a few still showed up and helped, which is okay because some officers have a conscience and a constitutional obligation to protect life and property.”
Additionally, the former Deputy President questioned why the President would send people to attack him and others in a church.
Goons Temporarily Disrupt Church Service Attended by Former Deputy President
He said he was not surprised, referring to a past charge in which President Ruto was accused of orchestrating the burning of people inside Kenya Assemblies of God church in Kiambaa during the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
Gachagua’s sentiments come after chaos erupted earlier within the church premises when a group of unruly youths stormed the church.

The service, which was being attended by him ended in a commotion within the church compound.
Consequently, the former Deputy President’s bodyguards were forced to fire shots in the air to disperse the youths.
Videos shared online show members of the congregation running for safety as some youths threw plastic chairs. However, no injuries were reported from the incident.
