A close ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In a statement dated Sunday, July 13, 2025, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara revealed that the DCI sent her a letter to appear before them on Monday, July 14, 2025.
“The days of intimidating leaders using the criminal justice system are long gone. Summoning me to DCI headquarters tomorrow will not change Kenyans’ resolve because it’s not about Jayne Kihara but our country, Kenya,” read part of her statement.
The Naivasha legislator accused President William Ruto of using the criminal justice system to silence his political critics. Despite being summoned, Jayne Kihara said she will not stop calling out President Ruto’s shortcomings.
“Mr. President, this is a tried and tested strategy; it has not worked before, and it will not work with you either. These political persecutions will not stop us from calling out this oppressive regime,” read her statement.
Gachagua Ally Summoned by DCI
In a summons letter dated July 11, 2025, Assistant Inspector General of Police George Lenny Kisaka, based at DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, compelled the legislator to appear before investigators on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Mazingira House, Room 78, Block B, 2nd Floor.

According to the notice, the summons stems from a complaint regarding the dissemination of inciteful or disruptive content, which investigators believe the MP is either connected to or possesses crucial information about.
“I have reasons to believe that you are connected to the offence or have information that can assist me in my investigations,” the letter read in part.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police further warned the legislator that failure to appear would constitute an offence liable to prosecution.
Jane Kihara’s summon by the DCI comes days after another Gachagua ally, Manyatta MP, Gitonga Mukunji was arrested and arraigned in Court for terrorism charges.

Gitonga was released by the court after being granted a cash bail of KSh 300,000 or, alternatively, a bond of KSh 1 million by the Kahawa Law Court.
Peter Kinyanjui Wanjiru (alias Kawanjiru) and Serah Wanjiku Thiga, who are party officials within Gachagua’s Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), were arrested and charged with terrorism under Section 4(1) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 30 of 2012.
