Jambojet has alerted passengers and crew to a possible Ebola exposure linked to flight JM 8523, which traveled from Entebbe to Nairobi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a statement on October 6, the airline said it is working with the Ministry of Health, Port Health Services and other relevant authorities as part of the ongoing public health response.
“Jambojet is aware of reports concerning a guest who traveled on Saturday 3rd October on flight JM 8523 from Entebbe to Nairobi. We are working closely with the Ministry of Health, Port Health Services and other relevant authorities to support the ongoing public health response, including the identification and management of the other guests and crew who may have been in contact with the individual,” it stated.
Jambojet Moves to Trace Passengers After Ebola Incident
Authorities are working to identify and manage passengers and crew who may have been in contact with the affected individual.
Jambojet said the health and safety of its passengers, crew and staff remains its highest priority.

The airline urged passengers and members of the public to rely on official updates from its verified social media platforms, @FlyJambojet, and relevant health authorities.

First Ebola Case Confirmed
In a statement on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the patient is a Kenyan citizen who has lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for the past seven years.
According to Duale, the patient fell ill about a month ago and received treatment at several hospitals while still in the DRC.

He later traveled from the DRC to Kampala by road before boarding a Jambojet flight to Nairobi.
“The Ministry of Health, Kenya wishes to inform members of the public that it has confirmed the first imported case of Ebola, Bundibugyo virus disease. This patient is a Kenyan citizen who has been living in DRC for the past seven years. He fell ill about a month ago and was treated in several hospitals while still in DRC,” stated Duale.
Duale said the patient arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:10 p.m., where he underwent the normal public health screening at the Port Health facility.
