January Suspension of Lukenya Train Services
Earlier in January this year, Kenya Railways announced the suspension of train services following a heavy downpour on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
In an official statement, the corporation noted that the Lukenya train, which was scheduled to depart Nairobi Central Station at 5:50 pm, would not operate that evening.
The daily commuter train service was suspended starting Monday, January 27, 2025.
“Kenya Railways wishes to inform members of the public that the Lukenya train, which usually leaves Nairobi Central Station at 5:50 pm daily, will not run today, January 27, 2025,” the statement read.
Kenya Railways explained that the suspension was caused by a blockage on a section of the line in Athi River, which is hindering the movement of trains between Nairobi Terminus and Lukenya Station,” the management explained.
