The Cabinet Secretary nominee for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Kipchumba Murkomen has declared his net worth.
While appearing before the vetting Committee on Saturday, August 3, Murkomen said he has a net worth of Ksh 620 million.
“My net worth is Ksh 620 million. After I was approved as a CS took a mortgage of Ksh 40 million and invested in it and besides that my assets have generally appreciated by about Ksh 20 million,” said Murkomen.
“Other earnings from businesses from farming I got about Ksh 10 million. When I was appointed up to now, my assets have increased by about around Ksh 70 million.”
This is an increase compared to the Ksh550 million value he declared on October 19, 2022, when he appeared before a similar a committee after President William Ruto picked him as Roads, Transport and Public Works CS.
Murkomen earlier attributed his net worth to his legal practice, farming and investment property in Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Kajiado counties.
“My income comes from legal practice and salary as the Senator of Elgeyo Marakwet County. My homes in Nairobi and Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, and parcels of land in Trans Nzoia, Narok, Kajiado counties have also contributed to my net worth. I also have vehicles and a wheelbarrow,” said Murkomen at a past vetting.
