Kisii School has been closed indefinitely after students allegedly set the school captain’s room on fire on a parents’ visiting day on June 6, 2026.
The Chief Principal, Fred Mogaka, sent a message to parents, instructing them to pick up their children from the school after the Board of Management’s approval.
“Hello dear Parents/Guardians. In consultation with the Board of Management and with the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that the boys leave for their homes today,” the message read.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Kisii School, Kakamega High School Closed Indefinitely
The incident comes shortly after Kakamega High School was closed following student unrest.
“Dear Parent/Guardian, you are required to pick your son from school tomorrow, June 6, 2026, from 6:00 a.m.,” the message sent to parents read.
However, the school did not publicly disclose the specific reasons for the abrupt release of students.

PS Bitok Sends Warning to Students
On June 5, Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok cautioned students involved in school unrest and property destruction that they would face legal consequences.
Speaking in Bomet County, Bitok warned of severe consequences for anyone found responsible for instigating school disturbances or disrupting learning.
“We have decided to deal with those people, and we are putting them on notice, even the students who are burning schools, you will not go scot-free! We shall come for you,” he said.
The PS said investigations and close monitoring of schools were ongoing following reports of external influences in some school disruptions.
