At least 40 people sustained injuries after a 66-seater bus crashed in the Londiani area on Thursday, December 14.
According to a statement by the Kenya Red Cross, 40 casualties were evacuated to the Fort Tenarn Hospital while four others were referred to the Kericho County Referral Hospital.
Officers from the Kenya Red Cross and well-wishers arrived at the scene to help the victims.
The cause of the accident was, however, not immediately established. As per the statement from the Kenya Redcross, no fatalities were reported.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross team undertook counseling sessions with the victims to offer psychosocial support.
“No fatalities reported. Psychosocial Support ongoing by the Red Cross Action Team,” the statement read in part.
The accident now brings to three the number of serious accidents reported in Londiani in 2023.

In what is becoming a notable blackspot, a matatu full of passengers rammed into a trailer in the area leaving at least five people dead on December 2.
The accident came months after another grisly accident where a truck rammed into several matatus, pedestrians, and motorcycles in the area leaving scores dead.
Coming as the nation braces itself for increased movement of people in the festive season, the National Transport and Safety Authority had raised an alarm over the number of lives lost on Kenyan roads.
Londiani accidents add to rising number of road fatalaties
In the period between January and July alone, NTSA reported that 2,124 lives were lost through road accidents.

As such, the Transport authority embarked on a raft of measures including raising awareness on the need to exercise precaution.
In addition, NTSA announced plans to install cameras along major highways in collaboration with the Kenya National Highways Authority in efforts to curb speeding.
Other players including non-state actors such as the Red Cross have also joined in efforts to raise awareness on road safety with the organization asking road users to stay vigilant on the roads and prioritize safety.
