Ol Kalou, Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho, has died.
The Nyandarua County legislator passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing medical treatment in India.
He had been unwell for some time and had sought treatment both locally and abroad.
Early Life & Education
David Kiaraho Njuguna attended Munyeki Primary School between 1971 and 1973.
He later transferred to Park Road Primary School, where he completed his primary education and obtained his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) in 1977.
For his secondary education, he joined Alliance High School, where he studied from 1978 to 1981 and completed his O-Level certification.
He then proceeded to Nairobi School for his A-Level studies between 1982 and 1983.

Following his secondary education, Kiaraho enrolled at the University of Nairobi (UoN), where he pursued a Bachelor of Architecture from 1985 to around 1992/1993.
Career
Professional Career
After graduating from the University of Nairobi in the early 1990s, Kiaraho began his professional career in architecture.
From around 1993 to the 2000s, he worked in private architectural practice within Kenya’s construction sector, handling design, planning, and project implementation.
Over the years, he was associated with architectural consultancy and development projects in both the private sector and the built environment space, contributing to housing and infrastructure-related work.
By the 2000s into the 2010s, he had established himself as a practicing architect involved in project planning and development, with experience spanning urban design, land use, and construction processes.
Professional Career
David Kiaraho Njuguna entered elective politics before the 2013 General Election and was elected as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency after running on a The National Alliance (TNA) ticket under the Jubilee coalition.

His victory in 2013 came as the Jubilee coalition, formed by TNA and the United Republican Party, swept through much of central Kenya.
Once in Parliament, he was assigned to committees focused on infrastructure and legislative administration.
During the 11th Parliament (2013–2017), he served on the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works, and Housing, where he participated in overseeing national road projects, public buildings, and housing programs.
He was also appointed to the Procedure and House Rules Committee, which oversees the interpretation of Standing Orders and the management of House business.
Kiaraho retained his seat in the 2017 General Election, by which time Jubilee had been registered as a single political party following the merger of its coalition partners.
His reelection solidified his position as an established legislator in Nyandarua County.
In his second term, he continued serving on infrastructure‑related committees, maintaining a focus on transport, public works and urban planning.
He was rarely involved in floor confrontations or high-profile national political debates, instead focusing on committee work and constituency matters.
He won a third term in the 2022 General Election, successfully defending his seat amid fierce competition from United Democratic Alliance candidates during the political shifts following the collapse of Jubilee’s dominance in the Mt. Kenya region.
His win made him one of Nyandarua’s longest‑serving sitting MPs.
At the constituency level, Kiaraho oversaw National Government Constituencies Development Fund programmes, including school construction, bursary allocation, road works and support for public institutions across Ol Kalou.
He continued to serve as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou until his death, concluding a parliamentary career of over 13 years.

David Kiaraho Njuguna was married to Jackie Kiaraho.
Jackie Kiaraho is known publicly for her role as chairperson of the National Assembly Lady Spouses Association (NALSA‑K) during the 11th Parliament, an association bringing together spouses of sitting Members of Parliament.
Beyond that role, the family has largely maintained a private life away from public attention.
