Fuel prices for the April/May cycle in major towns have been revised after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) recalculated rates following a reduction in Value Added Tax.
The updated pump prices, effective from April 16 to May 14, 2026, reflect lower petrol and diesel costs across key urban centers, with adjustments varying by location.
In a notice dated 15 April 2026, EPRA announced a revision to fuel prices following the Treasury’s reduction of VAT from 13 percent to 8 percent on President William Ruto’s directive.
“Pursuant to Legal Notice No. 70 dated 15ᵀᴴ April 2026, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury has revised the Value Added Tax rate from 13% to 8%. Accordingly, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has recalculated the maximum retail pump prices that will be in force from 16ᵀᴴ April 2026 to 14ᵀᴴ May 2026, taking into account the revised Value Added Tax rates,” read the EPRA statement in part.
EPRA Announces Final Fuel Prices in Major Towns After VAT Cut
As a result of the recalculation, the pump prices per liter in Nairobi for Super Petrol and Diesel decrease by KSh 9.37/liter and KSh 10.21/liter, respectively, while the price of Kerosene remains unchanged. Consequently, a liter of Super Petrol will retail at KSh197.6 while a liter of Diesel will go for KSh196.63 in Nairobi over the duration.

The pump prices per liter in Mombasa for Super Petrol and Diesel are Ksh 194.32/liter and Ksh 193.35/liter, respectively, while that of Kerosene is Ksh 149.49/liter.
In Nakuru, the pump prices per liter of Super Petrol and Diesel are Ksh 196.66 and Ksh 196.04, respectively, while that of Kerosene is Ksh 152.21.
Pump prices per liter in Eldoret for Super Petrol and Diesel are Ksh 197.48/liter and Ksh 196.86/liter, respectively, while Kerosene is Ksh 153.03/liter.
Additionally, EPRA’s allowed pump prices per liter in Kisumu for Super Petrol and Diesel are Ksh 197.48/liter and Ksh 196.85/liter, respectively, while that of Kerosene remains unchanged.
