National carrier Kenya Airways has apologized to its customers over recent flight delays and disruptions that have occasioned reschedules in the recent past.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 4, KQ said unscheduled engine overhaul had seen the airline ground two Dreamliner planes.
“Kenya Airways would like to apologize for the delays and disruptions that have been experienced in the recent past,” read part of a statement from the company’s Corporate Communications.
Kenya Airways added, “These have been caused by unscheduled engine overhaul and unforeseen engine supply chain constraints; thus, resulting in us having two (2)787 Dreamliner aircraft grounded.”
Furthermore, Kenya Airways said it was working with its engine lessors and manufacturers on finding a lasting solution to the issue. Part of the fix, according to the airline is finding replacements for its engines.
“We have therefore had to downgrade, reschedule and, or delay some of our flights. We do however expect this to be resolved shortly, and we will keep you updated.”
Should this plan take too long, KQ said it would realign its network to ease the delays or rescheduled flights.

Kenya Airways Message to Customers
In addition, Kenya Airways asked its customers to update their contact details including emails and phone numbers.
Importantly, those seeking to update their personal information should get in touch with KQ directly through the website or via call.
“In the interim, we kindly request that you update your booking contact details (email and phone number) directly with KQ via our website Flight Status (kenya-airways.com) or call our Customer Excellence Center via +254 711 024 747, WhatsApp: +254 705 474 747 or X @KQSupport,” the statement read in part.
At the same time, the national flag carrier said by updating the information, customers will receive timely flight updates and minimize inconveniences.

“We apologize for the inconveniences that this has caused. As always, our customers’ and staff’s safety remain our utmost priority, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for you.

Flight Changes
On Monday, August 5, KQ announced flight changes to various destinations in Africa, aimed at improving service delivery.
In a statement, the airline had said the changes would affect flights connecting to and from Tanzania, South Africa, Cameroon and the Central Africa Republic.
“Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania – In response to market demand, KQ introduced daily flights on KQ484/5 which operates at mid-day to Dar es Salaam effective 1st July 2024 with additional flights slotted on Wednesday and Friday.”
Moreover, KQ suspended flights to Central Africa Republic.
“Effective 9th August 2024, KQ will suspend indefinitely all 5 weekly flights to Bangui.”
