Top 10 Most Valuable Companies Listed on NSE

Safaricom maintained its position as the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE )’s most valuable listed company in June 2026, with its market capitalization rising to KSh 1.364 trillion.

According to the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) second-quarter report, Safaricom’s market value increased from KSh1.224 trillion in May to KSh1.364 trillion in June, giving it an average market capitalization of KSh1.259 trillion over the three-month period between April and June.

Equity Group Holdings ranked second with a market capitalization of KSh301.89 billion in June, up from KSh280.20 billion in May, while KCB Group came third after its market value climbed to KSh253.06 billion from KSh214.50 billion a month earlier.

Safaricom Cements Lead as NSE’s Most Valuable Company

East African Breweries Plc (EABL) retained fourth place with a market capitalization of KSh212.72 billion, followed by Co-operative Bank at KSh201.24 billion.

The rest of the top 10 comprised Kenya Power, with a market capitalization of KSh171.92 billion; Absa Bank Kenya, with KSh174.08 billion; NCBA Group, with KSh147.45 billion; Standard Chartered Kenya, with KSh123.84 billion; and Stanbic Holdings, with KSh110.79 billion.

Collectively, the top 10 companies accounted for KSh3.061 trillion of the NSE’s total market capitalization of KSh3.782 trillion at the end of June, compared with KSh2.802 trillion out of KSh3.426 trillion in May.

Despite the increase in overall market value, the top 10 companies’ share of the market edged down slightly to 80.94% in June from 81.78% in May and 81.43% in April

Investment Approvals

During the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, CMA approved several new investment products aimed at expanding Kenya’s collective investment schemes.

Madison Investment Managers Limited received approval to register the Madison USD Fixed Income Special Fund as an additional sub-fund under the Madison Unit Trust Scheme.

Karsis Asset Managers was approved to establish the Karsis Unit Trust Scheme, comprising 12 sub-funds, while Cinemark Investment Bank Limited was authorized to establish the Cinemark Unit Trust Fund, consisting of seven sub-funds.

The CMA also approved Absa Asset Management Limited to register the Absa Global Multi-Asset Special Funds as additional sub-funds under the Absa Unit Trust Scheme.

Licences

The regulator also licensed several new players across different segments of the capital markets during the quarter.

Frictionless Enterprises Limited and Moneto Ventures Limited were licensed to operate as intermediary service platform providers. Istithmar Lulu Makmoon was licensed as a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) manager.

In the asset management sector, the CMA granted fund manager licences to Everstrong Asset Management Limited, Karsis Asset Managers Limited, Entrust Advisory Limited, and Adar Asset Management Limited.

The Authority also licensed Finaltus Limited, Vepris Cap Limited, and Dealogic Africa Limited to operate as investment advisers, while Fintrust Securities Limited and AIB-AXYS Africa Limited were licensed as investment banks.

Additionally, E-GUM Ventures Limited received a licence to operate as a venture capital firm, while Saffron Coffee Marketers Limited was licensed to operate as a coffee broker.
