Residents of Mumberes – Majimazuri Ward in Eldama Ravine town, Baringo County have staged demonstrations citing rising cases of insecurity after the body of James Kiprop who was killed and beheaded was discovered on January 1.
Kiprop reportedly went missing on December 31 after he held a private meeting with a friend at around 6 pm in their compound.
“The deceased was missing for about a week before his headless body was discovered on Saturday with his arms chopped off and parts of his stomach dismantled,” a police officer said.
During the Monday, January 16 demonstrations, Baringo residents demanded justice from law enforcement agents stating that the man will not be buried in line with Kalenjin traditions until his missing head is found.
“We are demonstrating today because we want justice to be served. We are looking for the head of the man but all is in vain,” Carolyne Praisi, a resident told journalists.
Another resident identified as Danson Ruto said the incident shocked them adding that other body parts of the man beside his head were also missing.

“We are still in shock. A grown man who is 38 years old was found murdered and beheaded and his genitals and intestines were sliced off. As Kalenjins, we cannot bury him without his head,” Ruto said.
Ruto further pleaded with police officers to make sure the missing head of the murdered man is found.
“It has been 16 days since the headless body of the man was found. We are asking police officers to make sure our relative’s head is found so we can finally lay him to rest,” Ruto added.
According to County Police Commander Joseph Ongaya, they are yet to trace the key suspect in the murder and also find the deceased’s head. His body is lying in the Eldama Ravine Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
