A storey building under construction collapsed on Monday September 26 in Kirigiti area in Kiambu killing two people.
Police reports state that seven people were rescued in the incident after the building collapsed on a residential house below it trapping some of those who were there.
There were workers’ at the site when the building collapsed. Nonetheless, a multi-agency team went to the scene of the incident to rescue victims of the unfortunate incident.
According to the officials, it may take a long time to reach the ground floor as they had no information of how many people are still trapped inside.
Furthermore, reports say the storey-building collapsing is just one of the many cases in the area. Residents blame lack of supervision and greediness by contractors.
Nevertheless, Kiambu head of DCI Richard Mwaura said they have launched investigations into the incident.
“We are now focused on rescuing the victims and will deal with the rest later,” he stated.
