Lawyer Miguna Miguna has trashed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga’s decision to have Nyanza region leaders work with President William Ruto in order to spur development in the region.
In a Tuesday, January 17 statement published on his Twitter account, Miguna referred to his former boss, Raila, as a coward and conman following Ruto’s two-day Nyanza Visit that began on Friday, January 13.
“Conmanship comes in many guises but the one from Kenya’s perennial coward,
@RailaOdinga, is constant. After realizing that millions of Luos would turn up to welcome President @WilliamsRuto
to Nyanza, the Conman pretended to be the one who “gave orders” for the welcome,” Miguna tweeted.
Raila’s move to have his key allies and ODM political leaders from Nyanza including Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang Nyongo, Siaya’s James Orengo, Migori’s Ochilo Ayako and Homa Bay’s Glady’s Wanga work with Ruto was hailed as a stateman’s decision with political leaders across the country praising both Ruto and Raila for rising above tribal politics.
While hosting the President in Siaya, Governor Orengo said the former Prime Minister had tasked him with the duty of making sure Ruto felt at home while in Siaya.
“I spoke to Raila an hour ago and he said that I should pass to you (Ruto) his word of welcome and that you should feel at home,” Orengo stated.
The Siaya Governor further asked President Ruto to have a sit down with Raila in the spirit of brotherhood so as to foster development in the country.
“I ask you in the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness, not in the spirit of the handshake, to seek your brother Raila and sit together. The elections are over. For the good of Kenya, come together,” Orengo said.
During his two day Nyanza tour, Ruto pledged to initiate new development projects in Nyanza and complete those initiated by his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Head of State said the country had turned a new leaf after the August 9th presidential contest adding that he would ensure equitable distribution of the national cake, regardless of how Kenyans voted.
On Friday, January 13, Ruto launched the affordable housing project in Homabya county
The construction of the 5,000 housing units aims at resolving the housing deficit in the county and boosting the economic fortunes of the lakeside county.
“Tutahakikisha ya kwamba bei ya kulipa hiyo nyumba itakuwa ni kati ya shilingi elfu tano na elfu kumi…na baada ya miaka kumi na tano, hiyo nyumba inakuwa yako, hakuna tena mambo ya kulipa rent,” said President Ruto.
