An autopsy report conducted on the body of the late Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo, popularly known as Wegesha, has revealed the cause of her death which left many people in shock.
Pathologist Dr. Michieka Michieka while speaking to the press on Friday, May 10, 2024, revealed that the autopsy confirmed that the late Wegesha died of severe blood loss.

The lifeless body of the slain 38-year-old popular dancer was found lying on her bed in their matrimonial home on Thursday, May 9.
Wegesha’s body which had deep cuts on her throat and soaked in blood was discovered by her 18-year-old daughter who reported the matter to the police.

Pathologist Michieka conducted a postmortem on the body on Friday at Shalom Community Hospital mortuary where her body was taken by the police.
Following the autopsy, the pathologist revealed that Sheila died of an exsanguination.

Sheila Wegesha Cause of Death
Exsanguination is the severe action or process of draining or losing blood through bleeding, also called hemorrhage.
According to Healthline, exsanguination can refer to blood loss inside the body, called internal bleeding, or to blood loss outside of the body, called external bleeding.

Michieka after examining the body said the exsanguination occasioned by the sharp force trauma to the neck from the suspected stabbings.
The medical professionals also took samples for DNA and toxicology analysis.
Sheila whose body was found in her home is suspected to have been killed on Thursday morning before her body was found hours later in the Hill View estate, Athi River.
It is from the revelations from the daughter that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched a manhunt for Wegesha’s husband who has been identified as the suspect.
Wegesha’s husband is reported to have left home in the wee hours of Thursday in the family’s vehicle.

The daughter told the detectives that her father left in a Mitsubishi Outlander vehicle at around 1.am without saying a word.
Manhunt launched
Following the revelation, the detectives were able to track down the vehicle at a car park within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) next to Kencom bus stage.
A night attendant who recorded a statement with the police said that the suspect parked the car at around 2.30am.
He is reported to have transferred an amount totaling to Ksh450 to the night attendant as parking fees.
Also, the police said that Wegesha’s husband left the car keys with the attendant before leaving with three bags towards the Afya Center direction.
“We were also able to establish that the husband left the said motor vehicle but, in his possession, he had three bags which could have been having his personal belongings and proceeded towards Afya center,” said a DCI detective in a statement.
Police have however said that the motive of the murder has not yet been established and no arrest in connection to the dancer’s murder had been made by the time of publishing this article.
