A General Service Unit (GSU) was arrested on Tuesday, March 5 for allegedly defiling a form two student at Chepkurkur Secondary School, Bungoma County.
According to reports, Mt. Elgon police officers arrested the GSU officer after he was caught defiling the 17-year-old girl in a brothel in Kopsiro area.
The minor was allegedly sent home for school fees when she met the officer at the Chepkurkur centre earlier that morning.
Police reports state that the minor’s uncle was informed that her niece was in a nearby brothel with the officer after the girl was sent home to collect school fees.
Police OPCPD Confirms the Incident
Confirming the incident Justus Njeru, OCPD Kopsito revealed that the officer was busted by members of the public who spotted him entering a hotel room with the minor who was wearing school uniform.
The OCPD said investigations is underway to establish whether the girl was defiled by the officer.
Njeru stated that the officers in charge of the investigations have received reports from the doctors who ran tests on the minor.
He further explained that both the minor and her mother have recorded statements to help probe the incident.
“So far, we have received the p3 filled in by the medical officer, we have the victim here with us. She has recorded a statement together with the mother and other relevant witnesses who are subject to this matter,” said Njeru.

Deputy Governor Vows to Ensure the GSU Officer Faces the Law
Bungoma deputy governor Jennipher Mbatiany said the case against the GSU officer should serve as a warning to men who take advantage of young ladies.
She explained that the case should be a lesson to men who impregnate girls and go unpunished adding that she will ensure the minor gets justice.

“We want this case to be an example for the many people who abuse girls. This should be a lesson to those people who think they can impregnate girls and their case gets lost. This time around, we will follow the case until the end.”
The officer taken to Kipsigon police station but later transferred to Kopsiro pending his arraignment.
Most students across the country went back to school this week after midterm break. Schools will close on April 8 and reopen the same month on 26th, as per a calendar from the Ministry of Education.
