New information has emerged regarding the woman who fell from the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi County.
The victim who fell from White House apartment has since been identified as Joan Nzomo.
In the new revelations, the 19-year-old was in the company of a man also identified as Lawrence Gitonga.
Detectives from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reviewed evidence from the scene and interviewed residents and management of the apartment on Saturday, February 2, 2024.
Nzomo’s body was recovered at 3a.m on Saturday outside the building that doubles up as residential and temporary apartment.
Homicide detectives who took over the scene found Gitonga unconscious on the floor with eight stab wounds. However, the police said the deceased did not have any stab wounds.
The investigating officers collected forensic evidence, personal belongings and secured CCTV footage that will help in the investigations.
How the 2 Met Before Heading to Kasarani
According to Citizen TV, Gitonga and Nzomo met in one of the entertainment joints along Mirema drive in Roysambu.
Hours later they were seen dropping of their friends before heading to the White House apartment.
They proceeded to a bar close to the apartment where they continued to drink inside Gitonga’s car.
At around 3a.m, the two checked into the short stay apartment they had booked on the 10th floor.
Women Murder Cases
Several cases of women being murdered have been reported in recent times.
The murder of Starlet Wahu and JKUAT student Rita Waeni sparked widespread social media outrage, with calls for an end to gender-based violence.
On January 27, thousands of people including Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris took to the streets to protest the rising cases of femicide in the country.

In, Nairobi, protesters wore T-shirts printed with the names of women who became homicide victims that month.
“Stop killing us!” the demonstrators shouted as they waved signs with messages such as “There is no justification to kill women.”

Raila Condemns Women Killings
Azimio Leader Raila Odinga was among the politicians who condemned the increasing cases of the murder of women reported in the country.
In a statement on January 17, Raila said the death of the young women was leaving a trail of grief for many families and friends of the deceased.
“It is sad to see a troubling increase in the deaths of young women, leaving a trail of grief for families and friends. The abnormality of these murders cannot become the new normal,” he said.

Further, Raila highlighted the abnormalities of the murders stating that it cannot be accepted as a normal occurrence in the country.
According to Raila, the troubling cases is a matter of national emergency and a threat to homeland security.
“Murder is and will always be wrong, and there is no excuse. The ugly scourge of murder of women is now a national emergency. It is a threat to homeland security. It must come to an end,” he stated.
According to Patricia Andago, a data journalist at media and research firm Odipo Dev, at least 500 women were killed in acts of femicide from January 2016 to December 2023.
