Woman Confesses to Stealing Ksh683K Gold Ring & Selling it for Ksh4K

Milimani Law Courts was filled with emotion after a woman broke down in tears after pleading guilty to the charges levelled against her. Violet Ndukweh, a househelp in Runda, Nairobi, wept during the court proceedings, where she was convicted of stealing a gold ring worth Ksh683,000.

Violet alegeddly stole the gold ring from her Australian boss Norah Mitchell Were between August 3 and 8, 2024 and later sold it for just Ksh4,000.

She confessed that she stole the ring on August 3 before proceeding on a break and sold it to a second-hand dealer in Kawangware .

The suspect stated she had asked the buyer to give her back the ring so that she could return it to the house, but it was already too late.

Suspect Pleads for Forgiveness

She went ahead to plead with the Court, her boss (Mama Norah), and all those who attended the court session to forgive her.

Additionally, she mentioned that she used the money from the gold ring to help her father, who was admitted to the hospital.

“Niluliza huyu kama anaweza kuwa na hiyo pete nichukuwe to nirudishe mahali popote to kwa hiyo nyumba but ilikuwa too late. Mimi nimesema ukweli, hiyo ring niliokota nikaenda nikauza shillingi elfu nee so that niende niokoe baba yangu pale hospitali. Mimi naomba mnisamehe kwa niaba ya watoto wangu,” she said.

This translates to: “I asked him if I could take the ring and return it anywhere in the house, but it was too late. That is the truth; I found the ring and sold it for Ksh4,000 so that I could help my father at the hospital. I ask for the sake of my children.”

The suspect revealed that she is a mother of three and is currently struggling to make ends meet.

Violet Explains Why She Stole the Gold Ring

Further, she explained that she made the decision after noticing that the ring was expensive, adding that she wasn’t aware it could land her in trouble.

“I have three children, and I truly understand my struggles. But I am pleading for forgiveness from you, my listeners. I ask my boss (Mama Norah) to have a kind heart and forgive me because I didn’t know that ring was valuable to her,” Violet said.

Violet was arrested on August 8, 2024, and charged alongside Francis Mwima, 35. However, Mwima denied the charge and was released on a bond of Ksh1 million.
