Kenyan singer and songwriter Naiboi has made a music comeback after a four-year hiatus.
Taking to his Instagram account, Naiboi announced the release of his new song titled ‘Ananitaka’ featuring Kenyan singer and songwriter Iyanii.
Naiboi took a music break in 2020, relocated to the United States, and disappeared from the limelight. He came back in October 2024 much to the excitement of his fans who had been asking questions on his whereabouts since he relocated.
The ‘2 in 1’ hitmaker came out in 2021 to express his frustration with his record label Universal Music Group. He stated that this had made it impossible for him to produce over 800 songs that he had written.
Why Naiboi took a break
“All I ever wanted is to release music for my fans. And I know my fans are worried wondering what’s up with Naiboi. My hands have been tied for almost two years now. And I am tired of being at the mercy of these people,” said the singer.
Naiboi went on to state that he has been frustrated and beseeched his fans to pray for him.

“I Miss Naiboi as much as you do. Pray for me. I keep everything to myself a lot, but nimefika mwisho (I have given up). I love music so much it hurts to have over 800 songs and I can’t release even a single one,” added Naiboi.
In 2022, the singer announced that he had ended his contract with the record label and was free again to produce music. He, however, did not return to the music scene until 2025.
Free to release music
“Finally free to release music. Been a tough three-year situation. But hey why complain when I can finally kill them with it? My YouTube channel is Naiboi worldwide do subscribe if you have not. If you have, stay alert it’s go time,” stated the singer on his social platforms.

Naiboi, whose real name is Michael Kennedy entered the music industry in 2003 as a producer. He then transitioned into a singer in 2014 and adopted the name Naiboi.
He has gained recognition for his songs ‘2 in 1’, ‘Welle Welle’ featuring Timmy Tdat, and ‘Sondeka’ featuring other Kenyan stars.
