The National Youth Service (NYS) has advertised 75 job vacancies for graduates and is inviting qualified applicants to apply.
In a notice dated July 10, 2025, the National Youth Service (NYS) announced that job opportunities are in the hospitality sector.
“Through our partner, Brighter Monday Kenya, a reputable and leading recruitment and HR services company, we have 75 jobs for NYS Graduates in hospitality who will be working in Nairobi’s premier high-quality, classic restaurants with branches across the Country in the role of Waiter/Waitress.
The deadline for submitting applications is July 15, 2025.
NYS Advertises Waiter/Waitress Jobs
As a Waiter/Waitress at the restaurant, you will serve as an ambassador of the guest experience. Your attention to detail, polished service skills, and passion for hospitality will ensure every guest enjoys exceptional, white-glove service from arrival to departure.
Qualifications & Skills Needed
According to NYS, applicants must have a minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in a high-volume, premium dining environment. In addition, they should possess a certificate in Food and Beverage Service or any other related course.
Moreover, candidates must have impeccable grooming standards and strong professional etiquette. At the same time, applicants must be fluent in English, and knowledge of additional languages will be considered an added advantage.
Proficiency in the Micros POS system is preferred. Finally, certification in food safety or wine knowledge will be an added advantage.

The following are key duties and responsibilities that successful candidates will be required to perform.
- Warmly greet and seat guests with refined hospitality
- Master menu knowledge to provide expert recommendations
- Anticipate guest needs with discreet, attentive service
- Present dishes/beverages with precision timing and elegant presentation
- Handle payments and billing with discretion and accuracy
- Maintain pristine table setups (cutlery polishing, linen care, floral arrangements)
- Ensure immaculate station upkeep throughout service
- Coordinate seamlessly with kitchen and bar teams
- Uphold safety and hygiene protocols to Michelin-standard
- Personalize interactions for regular clientele
- Professionally resolve service recoveries when needed
- Collect feedback to continuously elevate standards

In the Google Form, candidates are expected to fill in various personal and professional details, including their NYS service number, ID number, full name, gender, home county, courses undertaken, year of NYS discharge, job seeker category, and years of work experience.
Additionally, applicants are required to upload proof of practical experience related to the role they are applying for. This may include past employment letters, reference letters, or certificates of service.
They must also upload their academic certificates and any other relevant training certificates. Furthermore, applicants are expected to upload their updated CV and provide their contact number.
Finally, they are required to upload their Discharge Certificate from NYS before submitting.
