Whether you’re a student gearing up for the challenge or a guardian seeking to empower your ward, this guide aims to be your compass, navigating the path to success in Kenyan national examinations.
Here’s a comprehensive list of items that should be in every student’s exam kit:
Pens and Pencils
Students should have enough black or blue pens during the national examinations.
The last thing you want is to run out of ink during your exam and have no other pens to use.
This will break your flow and concentration and also make you disrupt other students’ exam by asking for another pen.
Also, the students need pencils for drawing diagrams for subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Geography.
Eraser
Students also need erasers in case they need to make changes, especially while using pencils.

Ruler
Some papers will require the use of a ruler such as Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Business.
On top of the 15cm ruler in a geometric set, students should also have the 30cm ruler for drawing long straight lines.
You will be required to bring in a geometric set with you if you are taking a Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry exam.
This includes a compass, protractor, 15cm ruler, divider and set-square, be sure you have all of them.
Calculator
In addition, the students will need a scientific calculator for the exams.
Calculators are needed for subjects that involve complex calculations like Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Business and Geography.
Sharpener
Also, students should have sharpeners to keep pencils in optimal condition for precision during the exams.
However, it is good to sharpen all your pencils before the exams to avoid wasting time when the exams are ongoing.

Mathematical/Logarithm Table
In Mathematics, a logarithm table is used to find the value of the logarithmic function. This is one of the topics taught in high school and is tested in Mathematic Paper one.
For this reason, all the students must have their personal mathematical or logarithm table.
Watch
Bring a reliable watch to manage time effectively and pace yourself during the exam.
Furthermore, the watch will be important for waking up at dawn and knowing the appropriate time to go to bed.
It will also be important in the exams as you will need to time yourself and ensure that you complete the papers on time.
Nonetheless, students should remember that preparations go beyond just materials; a calm mind and a well-organized approach contribute to success.
