Police in Bondo sub- county have launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate who allegedly hacked his brother to death at their home in Maranda village.
According to police reports, the form four student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga secondary school allegedly had a misunderstanding with his elder brother Brian Otieno over food before they picked a quarrel that resulted in the loss of life.
Moreover, Maranda sub-location Senior Assistant Chief, Kennedy Amolo, while confirming the incident noted that the duo had just taken dinner when all hell broke loose.
“The man had prepared dinner which they took together with his brother Brian,” said Amollo.
Additionally, the sub-chief noted that after taking dinner, the suspect decided to give the little food left to their dog.

However, the generosity did not sit well with Brian, prompting a serious altercation before the 18-year -old picked a panga and hacked his brother to death.
Assistant Chief Confirms the Incident
According to the Assistant Chief, the man hacked the elder brother on the neck, killing him instantly.
“He hacked his bother using a sharp object on the neck, killing him on the spot. According to relatives, they first had a verbal argument over food,” stated Amollo.
Also, the administrator confirmed that, the suspect after hacking his elder brother took off.
“He is at large, his whereabouts remain unknown, but officers have seized up the matter and his arrest is just moments away,” said the administrator.
Furthermore, the assistant chief reported that the body of the deceased was moved by the police to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
KCSE Preparations
Nonetheless, this incident has occurred at a time when a section of candidates countrywide are sitting for their national examinations as some prepare to start.
If apprehended by the police, the suspect will be allowed to sit for his examinations in the Police cells.

According to the Examinations council, KCSE is set to kick off on Monday, November 6 while the KCPE kicked off today.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) says 903,260 candidates are registered for the examinations.
Further, the assessments will be conducted across a vast network of 10,651 examination centers across the country.
