The government of Hungary and China on Tuesday, November 19, announced scholarship opportunities for Kenyan students.
In a statement, the two nations urged qualified Kenyans to apply for the scholarships for which they were eligible.
“The Government of Hungary has offered two hundred (200) scholarships to eligible Kenyans for undergraduate, master’s, one-tier master’s (OTM), and PhD studies. The study programmes and host institutions are accessible on the online application system’s website: https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu, which will be available from November 15, 2024.
Interested candidates are requested to visit the Ministry of Education website at www.education.go.ke for detailed information. The standard and online application forms should reach the Ministry no later than Friday, January 17, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.,” part of the statement read.
Government of Hungary announces scholarship for Kenyans
According to the Hungarian scholarships, all applicants must adhere to the following:
- Fill out and save all requested information on the online application form in English
- A recent photo of the applicant (taken not earlier than two years before the submission of the application).
- Applicants for partial (exchange) studies must clearly state the duration (in months) and start date (September or February) of their studies.
- Provide a Motivation Letter:
- Minimum one page, typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font.
- Written in the language of the selected study programme or in Hungarian.
- Proof of language proficiency and translations in the language of the selected study programme or Hungarian:
- A scanned copy of the original proof of language proficiency, with a minimum level determined by the host institution, and its translation.
- If the student completed their previous studies in the language of the selected study programme, proof of this can be uploaded.
- Translations must only be attached if the original document is not in the language of the selected study programme or Hungarian.

Government of China announces schorlaship
Elsewhere, the Government of China, through the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nairobi, announced that it is offering seventeen (17) scholarships to deserving Kenyan students for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies for the 2025/2026 academic year in China.
Details of the scholarship and application procedure are available on the Ministry’s website: www.education.go.ke and www.campuschina.org.
According to the embassy, the standard and online application forms should reach the Ministry no later than Friday, December 6, 2024, by 5:00 p.m.

The following are some of the rules that candidates must follow during the application process:
- The Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship must be filled out online.
- An applicant shall submit a clear scanned copy of the information page of their passport, which must not expire on or before March 1, 2023.
- Diploma and Certificate of Highest Education: Applicants must submit a notarized photocopy. Current university students must provide a certificate of expected graduation or proof of student status issued by their university.
- Academic Transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translations in Chinese or English.
