Nzau Musau is a seasoned Kenyan journalist and media practitioner with over 18 years of experience in the industry. Throughout his career, he has held various roles ranging from reporter and bureau chief to news editor and management positions.
Musau worked as a journalist at the Standard Group, where he has contributed numerous articles on political and social issues.
In May 2025, the High Court directed the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy to appoint and gazette him as a member of the Media Complaints Commission, recognizing his expertise and commitment to media standards.
Nzau Musau Journalism Journey
Musau began his journalism career at The Star, a publication under the Radio Africa Group. During his tenure, he served as a political writer, gaining recognition for his insightful analysis and reporting on Kenyan politics.
His contributions significantly enhanced the newspaper’s political coverage and readership.

In 2014, Musau transitioned to the Standard Group, one of Kenya’s leading media companies.
At Standard Group, he initially took on the role of Continuity Editor, playing a pivotal part in the company’s shift towards a converged newsroom model.
Later in December 2021, Musau was promoted to the position of Intake Editor at Standard Group.
In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the integration of news content across various platforms, ensuring cohesive and comprehensive news delivery.
His leadership contributed to the streamlining of operations within the converged newsroom.
Appointment
Moreover, in May 2025, the High Court directed the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy William Kabogo to appoint and gazette Nzau Musau as a member of the Media Complaints Commission.
In addition to his journalism career, Musau has been involved in media regulation and monitoring.

The scribe cum lawyer holds two bachelor’s degrees: one in Political Science & Philosophy and another in Law (LLB) from the University of Nairobi
Additionally, he possesses a diploma in Journalism & Public Relations.
He was admitted to the bar on Friday May 2023 alongside Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.
