Principal Secretary for Basic Education, Dr Belio Kipsang has said the government will relocate Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates whose schools have been submerged with flood waters to neighboring schools to sit for exams without inconveniences.
“The government will relocate KCSE candidates whose schools have been submerged with flood waters to neighboring schools where they can sit for exams without inconvenience,” the ministry noted in a statement.
PS Belio highlighted these remarks at Westlands Sub-County on November 6 morning just as the KSCE examinations commenced.
He revealed that a chopper had been released to flood hit areas including Turkana and Tana River to help deliver examination papers to KCSE candidates.
“In Turkana we were told that they were facing enhanced rains, and a chopper has been released to that region,” he stated.
Ministry of Education on Examination Malpractice
In addition, the PS visited Kenya High School where he handed over the 2023 KCSE examination papers to the principal to officially launch the beginning of the national secondary school examinations.
During his visit, the PS addressed the issue of examination malpractice noting that the ministry had taken stringent measures to ensure that the exams were conducted in a fair way.

PS Kipsang stated that the ministry is working with the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Cyber Crime unit under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to ensure exam cheating does not happen.
“We have shut down a number of social media sites. We have even arrested a number of people. This week I am very sure we shall continue being on the look for those attempting any exam malpractices,” Dr Belio noted.
Likewise, the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) issued a directive that only secondary school teachers will exclusively oversee and invigilate the 2023 KCSE examination.
“Only secondary school teachers are eligible to serve as invigilators, supervisors, and center managers for KCSE,” Nancy Macharia stated.
