A family in Nairobi is in distress over the disappearance of Seth Ruben, a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate.
According to the family, Seth, a form four candidate at Our Lady of Fatima in Kariobangi was last seen on Sunday, October 20, in the Lucky Summer area.

“On Monday morning when we woke up, we couldn’t find him,” the father said.
The sister narrated that Seth was having a meeting with his friends at their sitting room that Sunday night and disappeared the following day.

“He was just having the meeting as usual then I left for the bedroom to sleep. So, the next morning waking up I found the door locked,” she said.
Seth’s family, along with his school community, is appealing for information on his whereabouts, urging him to come forward if he’s in hiding due to exam-related stress.

“If maybe he feared the exam and he decided to go into hiding something like that I just tell him if he’s having some marries if he cannot reach any of my parents or my siblings or anyone, can he just try to reach to me,” said a family member.

KCSE Candidate Drowns
In another tragedy, a family in Machakos county is mourning the loss of their son 17-year-old Abel Mwendwa, a KCSE student at Katelembo Center of Excellence High School who drowned while swimming at a dam near the school.
According to reports, Abel was returning home when the incident occurred on Sunday
“I was the first person to arrive here and saw the boy and I jumped into the water to try and save him. He didn’t have clothes, I tried holding but he drowned before they could bring the ropes to help him out of the water,” said the first witness.
Abel’s parents stormed the school on Sunday to demand for answer from the management.
“I tried to ask the teacher on duty what happened, but he said he doesn’t have the authority to speak about the incident. He mentioned that he was given the list of students who were supposed to be sent home for fees.

Police Investigations
Police in Machakos are investigating claims that Abel was sent home for school fees although the school principal has denied these allegations.
“I received a phone call from Abel, and he told me that he had been sent home for school fees. I asked him why the school principal didn’t call to inform me directly,” said the mother.
These incidents come as thousands of KCSE candidates across Kenya are sitting for their exams, with both families left deeply concerned.
