The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the release of the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) result slips.
In an announcement on February 14, KNEC stated that the results slips have been dispatched to all Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE) offices nationwide and advised school heads to collect them from their respective SCDEs.
“The 2025 KCSE Examination Result Slips have been dispatched to all Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE) offices countrywide,” read the announcement.
The examination body added that schools that presented candidates for the 2025 KCSE should liaise with their respective SCDE offices to collect the result slips.
The release comes after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced the 2025 KCSE examination results on January 9.
KNEC Procedure of Releasing KCSE Results Slips
According to the examination body, the result slips are dispatched to the Sub-County Directors of Education for collection by the heads of institutions within one month after the release of the KCSE results.
Principals log in to the KNEC portal using school credentials to download and print the official result slips.
Certificates are then received by the school 8 months after sitting for the national examinations.
How Schools Can Access 2025 KCSE Result Slips
Schools that presented candidates for the 2025 KCSE can access and download the result slips online through the KNEC portal by following the steps below:
- Visit the KNEC Portal: Go to the official KNEC portal at https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke.
- Log In: Use the school’s KNEC username and password. Note that individual students cannot log in directly to download result slips.
- Access KCSE Results: Once logged in, click on the “KCSE Results” tab on the dashboard.
- Enter Candidate Details: Input the candidate’s Index Number and select the correct examination year.
- View and Download: The KCSE result will appear on the screen. Click “Download” or “Print Slip” to save the PDF file.
- Print the Slip: Open the downloaded PDF, connect a printer, and print the slip on clean, white A4 paper.

Why the Result Slip is Important
KCSE result slips are official, authenticated documents issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council to verify completion of secondary education and individual academic performance.
They are essential for immediate applications to universities, colleges, and technical institutions, as well as for processing career opportunities before the official certificate is issued.
