The school’s structured rugby development began in 2009 following the appointment of Kikechi Kombo, a former Kenyatta University Blak Blad player, as a teacher and rugby coach.
His arrival marked the transition from informal participation to organised training and competitive engagement.
After approximately eight years of development, Muhuri Muchiri registered its first significant regional victory in 2017, when the school qualified for the national school games.
The school’s participation extended beyond local tournaments.
In the East Africa secondary school rugby sevens competition, Muhuri Muchiri’s team made a notable impact during a regional championship in Gulu, Uganda.
In that event, the team defeated Lango College of Uganda 26–7 in its opening tie, then beat the national champions, Menengai High School, 21–14.
