Pwani University is a public University situated in Kilifi, about 60 kilometres and adjacent to the Indian Ocean.

The University was established initially as a constituent College of Kenyatta University by a gazette order issued on 23rd August 2007, with a mandate to “provide quality education, training, research and innovation for the advancement of the individual and society”.

The institution has made major strides in putting in place the required infrastructure to mount quality degree programs and was granted a Charter to become a Chartered University on 31st January 2013. Currently, the University has a student population of about seven thousand.

Currently, Pwani University has a total of seven (7) Schools namely: School of Agricultural Sciences and Agribusiness (SASA), School of Business and Economics (SBE), School of Education (SED), School of Environmental and Earth Sciences (SEES), School of Health and Human Sciences (SHHS), School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), and the School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS). The University will continue to be guided in the development of its curriculum by the needs of industry and advances in knowledge in the world in general.
