The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has outlined the process of applying for transfer online.
TSC in an update on April 26, 2024 urged any teacher seeking to make a switch to follow a listed procedure.
The commission noted that transfers can be initiated by an individual teacher for personal reasons or by the Commission itself based on staff balancing.
According to the teachers’ employer, the approval of a transfer request on its part depends on several factors.
These include the availability of a vacancy and the need for a suitable replacement.
Also, the timing of transfers is another factor, with the commission highlighting that transfers should take place during school holidays to minimize disruption of school programs.

TSC further states that a teacher may be met with different types of statuses after the application.
They include Acknowledged status which means that the request is under consideration, pending a suitable replacement.
Not Approved status, on the other hand, means that the transfer request cannot be processed at the time due to the absence of a vacancy or a suitable replacement.
An Approved status, on its part, means that a teacher’s transfer request has been authorized.
TSC noted that once a transfer is approved, the transferred tutors are required to be released from their current station and report to the new station within the stipulated time period.
Also, the commission highlights that it does not charge for employment, recruitment, transfer, promotion and pension services.
