Nelson Koech Biography
Nelson Koech is a politician and a close ally of President William Ruto. He is currently a Member of Parliament for Belgut Constituency.
The legislator made his first foray into elective politics under the Jubilee Party in the 2017 general elections.
Career
Koech was also re-elected as Belgut MP in the 2022 general elections under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
At the National Assembly, the Belgut legislator serves as the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations. He also serves as a member of the Committee on Implementation.
Before joining politics, Nelson worked as a Warehouse Supervisor at Bike Alert Corporation in the United Kingdom, from 2008.
Koech has also worked for the Kenya Electrical and Allied Workers Union (KETAWU) as a Clerical Officer from 1999 to 2000.
Besides his legislative work, Koech is among the politicians known to participate in charity work.
The legislator is known for organizing football tournaments in his constituency.
He has also participated in fundraising activities in various churches often alongside politicians from the UDA party.
Koech has also been instrumental in supporting education and healthcare in his constituency.

The Belgut legislator holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in the Kenya Methodist University. Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Paralegal Studies from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
Koech also holds a Certificate in International Relations (Law). The legislator pursued sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) at Chemamul Secondary.
