Moses Okoth Omondi is a Kenyan politician and community leader from Ugunja Constituency in Siaya County.
He was the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) flagbearer in the Ugunja parliamentary by-election held on November 27, 2025, eying the seat left vacant by the former member of parliament, James Opiyo Wandayi, who was appointed to the position of Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum.
Having worked under Wandayi for 13 years as the Ugunja Constituency Manager, he has gained extensive experience in public service.
ODM named him the best candidate to succeed his predecessor and advance developmental projects initiated under the Wandayi regime.

Omondi secured the ODM nomination on September 26, 2025, with 5,329 votes out of approximately 9,454 cast in the primaries, defeating Joseph Otieno Alur, who received 2,789 votes, and Fredrick Z. Owino, who followed with 1,336 votes.
Moses Omondi was endorsed by leaders, including his former boss, Wandayi, and ODM leaders like Oburu Odinga and James Orengo.
His success in the by-elections would make him the second MP for Ugunja since its creation in 2013 after devolution from the former Ugenya Constituency.

2012-2025
Ugunja Constituency Manager- He served in this post for 13 years under former MP and current Energy and Petroleum CS James Opiyo Wandayi.
His tasks included handling senior management roles in the constituency, coordinating development projects, community engagement, and administrative oversight, giving him deep knowledge of Ugunja’s challenges in areas such as infrastructure, education, and economic inequality.

Political Aspirant – in quest to succeed his former boss, he ran for the parliamentary seat and emerged as a frontrunner in ODM primaries, and has been actively campaigning for the by-election, promising to advance ongoing projects and promote prosperity.
