Catholics in Kenya have been encouraged to stop celebrating the Biblical Mary and shift to the ‘Busia Mother of Jesus’. This is after Judith Nafula, a Catholic from Nangoma village in Matayos constituency, declared herself the Holy Mother of Jesus.
The President of the Atheists in Kenya Society, Harrison Mumia, said they are pleased that a Kenyan woman has declared herself to be the mother of Jesus.
Mumia said the Society will support Nafula after her declaration and asked Catholics to follow suit.
He added that Kenyan Catholics should follow her teachings and leave those of the Roman Catholic Church.
“We support and stand with Judith Nafula, and we encourage Kenyan Catholics to venerate her, rather than the Biblical Mary. Kenyan Catholics should leave the Roman Catholic Church and embrace the teachings of Judith,” Mumia said.
Additionally, Mumia said Nafula is a committed Catholic and deserves recognition by the Kenyan Government for proclaiming herself the Holy Mother.
He argues that the declaration represents the transformation Africa requires to liberate itself from the white person’s religious colonisation.
“We stand in solidarity with her and aspire to witness the emergence of a Kenyan Jesus Christ,” Mumia added.
Busia Mother of Jesus
Nafula defected from the Catholic Church and claimed she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus.
She narrated how a light appeared, followed by a sound, telling her that she had been picked to be Christ’s mother.
According to Nafula, the voice revealed that the information had been hidden, but the time had come for her to make it public.
“A light came from above and descended, and a voice came from the midst of it saying, ‘I am Christ, sent by the Father, and I am looking for Mother Mary.’ I responded, ‘I don’t know Mother Mary,’ and He told me, ‘It is you.’ It was something that had been hidden, and the time had come for you to reveal yourself,” she said.

Performing Miracles
Nafula mentioned that she slept on the Mountain for two months, where she was sent to pass messages to Kenyans.
She claimed to have received the ability to do miracles, but some residents termed them as ‘forces of the dark’.
However, family members confirmed the miracles she has allegedly performed, including healing people.

Her husband, John Wekulo, said he received the news with shock.
Wekulo said he was also approached to be Joseph, the “father of Jesus” after his wife was commanded to be the mother of Jesus.
