President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 17 congratulated Rwandan President Paul Kagame on his re-election.
In a statement on July 17, Ruto commended the people of Rwanda for exercising their constitutional right and wished Kagame well.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Kenya, I have the pleasure to convey warmest congratulations upon your re-election to serve a further term as President of the Republic of Rwanda,” said Ruto.
He added, “We celebrate with you the sovereign choice of the people of Rwanda and wish you success as you continue steering your country in the path of peace, stability and posterity.”
In addition, the head of state expressed his eagerness to continue working with Kagame and strengthening the bilateral relationships between Kenya and Rwanda.

“I look forward to continuing working with you in regional and Pan-African affairs in strengthening the bonds of solidarity and fraternity between the peoples of Kenya and Rwanda,” he added.

Kagame Re-elected
President Paul Kagame was re-elected for a fourth term as president during the general elections held in Rwanda on July 15.
The electoral commission declared him the winner after he garnered 99.15 per cent of the votes.
Over 9 million Rwandans were registered to exercise their constitutional right and vote for a new president on Monday.
According to official results, more than 99% of them supported the incumbent Paul Kagame for a fourth term.
By close of polls closed on Monday evening, the election commission said that Kagame had won 99.15% of the votes.
Kagame’s re-election marks 24 years as president of the nation since his first election in 2000.

Samia Suluhu Congratulatory Message
At the same time, Tanzania’s president Samia Suluhu also conveyed her congratulatory message while noting that she looks forward to working with him.
Additionally, she expressed her willingness to foster East Africa’s unity and prosperity through continued bilateral relations between Tanzania and Rwanda.
“On behalf of the Government and the People of the United Republic of Tanzania, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Paul Kagame, on being re-elected as the President of the Republic of Rwanda.
I look forward to continuing working with you in fostering the relations between our two countries and in the pursuit of East Africa’s unity and prosperity,” Samia said
