The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has announced multiple job vacancies as part of its mandate to strengthen civilian oversight of the National Police Service.
In a notice dated Tuesday, April 28, 2026, IPOA is seeking to fill 32 positions in various departments.
These roles include Senior Accountant, Call Center Officer II, Complaints Management Officer II, Inspections Officer II, Monitoring Officer II, Investigations Officer II, Legal Officer II, Research Officer II, Clerical Officer II, Driver II, and Office Assistant II.
“The Independent Policing Oversight Authority is established pursuant to Cap. 86 Laws of Kenya. Its primary mandate is to provide civilian oversight over the work of the National Police Service. The Authority seeks to recruit results-oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision, and creativity to fill the following vacant positions,” read part of the notice.
According to the authority, the highest number of vacancies is in the Investigations department, with 9 posts, followed by Complaints Management with 6.
Application Process for IPOA 32 Vacancies and How to Apply
Interested candidates are required to submit their applications online via the IPOA careers portal by May 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
The authority noted that no physical applications will be accepted, and detailed job descriptions are available on the IPOA website.

In addition, IPOA stated that successful applicants must meet the integrity requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
These include obtaining clearance certificates from agencies such as the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
IPOA also noted that background checks and verification of academic and professional certificates will be conducted before employment.
Candidates Reassured of Equal Opportunity and Transparency in Recruitment
IPOA reiterated its commitment to equal opportunity employment, stating that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, disability, or social status.
The authority also warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.

Additionally, IPOA clarified that it does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process and does not use recruitment agencies, urging applicants to remain cautious of fraud.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Senior Accountant
According to IPOA, a Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations within the Authority and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.

The Duties and Responsibilities include the following :
- Overseeing the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records and reports
- Managing budgeting processes and monitoring budget implementation
- Ensuring compliance with public financial management regulations and policies
- Coordinating internal and external audits and implementing audit recommendations
- Supervising accounting staff and ensuring adherence to accounting standards
- Managing cash flow, financial forecasting, and expenditure control
- Preparing financial statements and periodic management reports
- Supporting procurement processes through financial verification and approvals
- Ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts and resolution of discrepancies
- Advising management on financial planning and resource allocation
The Complaints Management Officer II, seeking to fill 6 vacancies, will focus on the effective management and processing of complaints lodged with the Authority, ensuring timely and transparent case handling.
IPOA noted that an Inspections Officer II will support oversight functions through inspections of police facilities and operations to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
The authority also noted that the Monitoring Officer II will be responsible for tracking and evaluating the implementation of programs and activities within the Authority.
The Investigations Officer II will be responsible for conducting investigations into complaints against police officers.
