The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has announced two hundred and twenty job opportunities in various fields.
In a notice on Tuesday, June 11, KFS said the recruitment drive seeks to fill vacant positions in the Service as it embarks on achieving a 30% forest cover.
“In order to strengthen its human resource capacity, the Service wishes to recruit qualified competent staff to fill the following vacant positions listed below on permanent and pensionable terms to enable it fulfill its mandate effectively and drive the country towards the attainment of 30% tree cover by 2032,” the notice read in part.
KFS seeks to hire a pilot, senior officer-business development and marketing, aircraft maintenance technician, engineer officer II, dispatch officer and a medical laboratory technician II.
Additionally, Kenya Forest Service announced two vacancies for each of the following: ecotourism officer II, assistant wood technologist, librarian assistant II, legal officer II, geo data base officer II and customer care assistant.
“The successful candidates will be expected to fulfil the requirements of chapter six of the constitution of Kenya 2010,” KFS said.
The Service also announced opportunities for corporate communications assistant (3), administrative assistant (5), supply chain management assistant (8) and lecturer II (8).
Besides, KFS announced ten vacancies for ICT Assistant and plant operator III and fifteen openings for human resource management assistant II and accountant assistant II.
KFS also seeks to recruit survey assistant (7), inspector of roads (7), office administrator assistant III (32), records management assistant (30), driver III (20) and office assistant (32).

How to Apply
Step 1:
Qualified and interested applicants who meet the requirements are asked to apply by visiting Kenya Forest Service website: http://www.kenyaforestservice.org and select the JOBS TAB to proceed with the online registration.
Following successful online registration, the candidates will receive a notification email.
Step 2:
In addition to the online registration, applicants must print and attach the notification as the first page of the hard copy application.
The hard copy application should clearly indicate reference number for the position applied for and attaching current curriculum vitae (clearly indicating the mobile number, names and contact details of three referees), copies of relevant testimonials, academic and professional certificates and a copy of National identity card.
“The application should either be sent through the post office or hand delivered to the address provided below in a sealed envelope marked “application for (write position & reference); so as to reach Kenya Forest Service not later than Monday 1 July 2024 by 5.00pm,” the notice read in part.

KFS emphasized that applications will not be considered complete unless the two steps are successfully undertaken.
Further, submission of the application through email shall not be considered.
“Shortlisted candidates shall be required to produce originals of their National ID, Academic and Professional certificates during interviews,” the Service stated.

In this regard, KFS encouraged youth, women, person living with disabilities, marginalized and minority communities with the requisite qualifications to apply.
“Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification,” KFS explained.

The Mandate of KFS is to protect, conserve, develop and sustainably manage forests and allied resources for environmental stability and the social-economic benefits for the present and future generation.
In addition, KFS provides technical advisory services to the County Governments to execute their respective devolved forestry functions.
