The wife of COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, Mary Kilobi, has been shortlisted for a technical government job.
In a notice on May 20, the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee selection panel chair, Amos Gathega, confirmed the invitation of suitably qualified persons for the position of Member (7 positions) of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) on 21st April, 2026.
“Pursuant to Section 11 of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee, the Selection Panel invited applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Member (7 positions) of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) in the media,” the statement read in part.
Further, he stated that after considering the applications, the Selection Panel shortlisted candidates for the position, sharing the full list of the shortlisted candidates and the expected interview dates.
Mary Kilobi to Face Panel On June 12
From the list, Mary Kilobi is among the applicants set to be interviewed for the position on Friday, June 12, at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus, Nairobi.

The Member of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) is a national-level public service position established under the Intergovernmental Relations Act, 2012, to strengthen coordination between the national government and county governments in Kenya.
It is responsible for consultation, cooperation, and coordination in devolution. It helps resolve disputes and harmonize policies and operations between the national government and the 47 counties.
Mary Kilobi Profile: Education and Career Background
Mary Kilobi (Mary Kilobi Atwoli) is a Kenyan Swahili journalist who worked as a news anchor for KTN, a TV station in Kenya owned by the Standard Group.
She was born on 16 July 1984 in Kavula village, Bumula Sub-County, Bungoma County.

Mary Kilobi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Kiswahili from Makerere University in Uganda and also holds a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Nairobi.
She began her journalism career at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), where she worked as a producer, editor, and news anchor before moving to Kenya.
At KTN, she was a news anchor and reporter, hosting programs such as KTN Leo Wikendi and other Swahili news bulletins.
Kilobi is also an author of the Kiswahili learning book Jifunze Kiswahili, which is distributed in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
She is also involved in motivational and public speaking engagements.
