The Public Service Commission (PSC) has begun interviews for the 8th Cohort of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP).
The 8th Cohort of the PSIP is a 12-month paid internship for Kenyan graduates who have completed their Bachelor’s degrees in 2018 or later. PSC recruited for this program for the 2025/2026 financial year, with the application deadline being August 18, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, December 1, PSC said that a total of 13,117 graduates were shortlisted for nationwide recruitment.
The commission further confirmed that interviews had already begun, targeting candidates selected from 35,659 applicants, and urged those who had applied to check their portals.
“Selection interviews began on Monday, 1st December 2025, from among the 13,117 candidates who were shortlisted out of the 35,659 who applied for the advertised positions. If you had applied, kindly check your portal,” PSC said in its update.

According to the commission, the week-long interviews will run until December 6, 2025. Successful graduates will be deployed in January 2026 to government ministries, state departments, and agencies for a one-year paid internship to gain practical experience and skills to enhance their chances for employment, networking, and entrepreneurship.

PSC has dispatched interview teams to 13 regional centres across Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Eastern, Nairobi, and Central regions to make the process accessible to shortlisted candidates countrywide.
Interview details are available on each candidate’s PSC Jobs Portal, and all shortlisted applicants have been notified via official SMS alerts.
“The recruitment exercise is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, merit, transparency, and equal opportunity as required by the Public Service Commission Act, 2017. All shortlisted candidates have been notified through official SMS alerts,” read part of the statement.
Candidates must present themselves in person with their original National ID cards, academic certificates, transcripts, and any other documents listed in their invitation.
PSC also said it has made telephone interviews available to applicants in remote areas who may face logistical challenges in reaching the centres.
“The Commission reminds all candidates that the recruitment process is free of charge and that they should not fall prey to fraudsters asking for money to influence their appointment into the programme.”

Internship duties and responsibilities
PSC, while declaring the vacancies earlier in the year, noted that duties for successful applicants include, but are not limited to:
- Completing duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors;
- Documenting relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment; and
- Actively participating in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.
The internship will run for twelve months and is non-renewable. During this period, interns will receive a government-determined stipend to support their upkeep while working in various ministries, departments, and agencies.
Upon successful completion of the one-year programme, each intern will be issued with an official certificate.
