As results for various seats continue streaming in, from across the country, a good number of independent candidates have made their way to parliament.
Here is a list of Members of parliament elected on the independent ticket so far
1.Ronald Karauri was declared the MP-elect of Kasarani constituency. He garnered 32,406 votes
2.Kisumu Town East MP Shakeel Shabir secured a fourth term on an independent ticket. Shabir defied the ODM wave in Nyanza to garner 35,704 against ODM’s Nicholas Oricho who summed 28,491 votes.He was initially in ODM
3.Kitilai Ntutu, beat both ODM and UDA candidates to clinch the Narok South parliamentary race. He won with 17,238 votes.
4. Incumbent Rahim Dawood successfully defended his Imenti North seat for a third time after bagging 26, 218 votes.
5. Geoffrey Mulanya won the Nambale constituency seat with 19,018 votes.
6. Fatuma Mohamed won the Migori County Woman Representative having garnered 154,538 votes beating ODM’s Ghati Denittah who got 117,591 votes.
7. Caroline Ngelechei, Woman Rep-elect, Elgeyo Marakwet.
8. Zainab Chitsangi, Kinango constituency in Kwale
9. Joshua Mwalyo, Masinga constituency
10. Elijah Njoroge, Gatundu North constituency in Kiambu
11. Timothy Toroitich, Marakwet West constituency.
In the 2017 General Election, 13 independent candidates were elected as Members of the National Assembly
