Family & Loss
MP Shinali Bernard Masaka has experienced both personal tragedy and legal challenges in his family life.
In 2019, Masaka mourned the tragic loss of his firstborn son, Chris Adema Masaka, who passed away at the age of 35 while on holiday with his family in Arizona, United States.
Chris, a US Marine and Army reservist, reportedly drowned while trying to rescue a teenage girl of Canadian descent who was struggling in a swimming pool.
In 2021, the MP found himself entangled in a legal battle after a woman, Caroline Mutheu Mwakodi, claimed he fathered her then five-year-old son.
She filed a case in 2019, demanding Ksh200,000 in monthly child support, which included expenses for rent, medical insurance, a house help, food, clothing, and entertainment.
In March 2020, buccal swabs obtained from Shinali, the woman, and their child proved the MP fathered the child.
